| Body | Glo Bug yarn (egg color of choice) |

Step-by-Step Instructions
- 1
Thread
Leaving some space behind the eye, start the thread on the hook shank.
- 2
Yarn Bundle
Cut about an inch and a half of Glo Bug yarn and a shorter strand of contrasting micro Glo Bug yarn for the blood dot. Stack both pieces and fold them around the tying thread.
- 3
Secure
Take a couple of wraps in front of, behind and then around the yarn bundle to secure and compress it.
- 4
Finish
Whip finish, cut the tying thread and apply head cement to the wraps.
- 5
Trim and Shape
Pull the whole yarn bundle up and snip it straight across with very sharp scissors, then work the half sphere into a full sphere with your fingertips.
How to Fish the Egg Pattern
Dead drift deep under an indicator as a lead fly or dropper during spawning seasons. Match egg color to species and timing: orange/pink for rainbow trout (spring), peach/cheesy for brown trout (fall), cream/pale yellow for whitefish (fall-winter). Essential pattern for tailwaters during spawn periods. Use brighter colors in stained water, more natural colors in clear water. Do NOT fish over active spawning redds - target holding areas downstream where loose eggs drift. Works year-round but most effective during actual spawn windows when natural eggs are present in the water column.
