The Flathead River The Flathead River near Kalispell represents the upper mainstem section of this excellent freestone fishery, flowing from the confluence of the North and Middle Forks downstream through the heart of the Flathead Valley. The Kootenai River The Kootenai River below Libby Dam is Montana's largest tailwater fishery, offering 40 guidable miles of world-class fly fishing for wild rainbow, cutthroat, and brown trout in a stunning mountain setting.
